CYNTHIA

Champion of the Sinnoh region, veteran trainer, researcher of myth, explorer of space and time. PokΓ©mon Master.

INTRODUCTION

Cynthia (γ‚·γƒ­γƒŠ) is the PokΓ©mon Champion of the region of Sinnoh, and an archeologist who travels the world to study history and mythology. Hailing from Celestic Town, Cynthia set out with her partner, Gible, and travelled far and wide, filling out a PokΓ©dex and catching PokΓ©mon. In time, she became known as a PokΓ©mon Master and the Champion of the Elite Four.Later, Cynthia befriended and assisted a young trainer from Twinleaf Town on their own journey. During this time, an organization known as Team Galactic attempted to destroy the universe to recreate it in their own image. Cynthia and others fought against this threat, culminating in Cynthia and the young trainer entering the distortion world to foil this plot and calm the legendary Distortion PokΓ©mon, Giratina. The young trainer would later defeat Cynthia to enter the Hall of Fame as a Champion in their own right, before moving onto further adventures.Since then, Cynthia reclaimed and maintains her title as Champion of Sinnoh, serving as the final challenge of many journeys. When not presiding over the Sinnoh League, Cynthia often does field research concerning anthropology, mythology, history, and theology. She also participates in other competitive battling events and actively pursues new ways to improve her battling abilities.

ABILITIES

Cynthia is a PokΓ©mon Trainer, and as such, can utilize creatures known as PokΓ©mon in battle and to generally assist her. Her athleticism, willpower, and experience allow her to masterfully command her PokΓ©mon on even the most frenzied of battlefields, against the most powerful of reality-warping opponents.She has several Pokemon that she has befriended and trained rigorously. Their undying loyalty to one another and tenacity in battle make Cynthia an incredibly powerful opponent, worthy of such titles as "Champion" and "Master". The following list marks her most frequent companions, but is not a complete document of all her companions.

  • Spiritomb. An ethereal Ghost/Dark-type PokΓ©mon. Formed out of 108 vengeful spirits bound to an odd keystone, Spiritomb can lay curses and cast supernatural spells using thought alone. This Pokemon has no weakness other than fae magics.

  • Roserade. A humanoid Grass/Poison-type PokΓ©mon. Roserade is said to lure prey in with its sweet aroma, and then strike with venomous whips. It attacks using the power of both nature and poison, and can set up control of any land-based battlefield.

  • Togekiss. A dove-like Fairy/Flying-type PokΓ©mon. In the wild, Togekiss is known to appear in times of peace and flee times of strife. Its abilities allow it to soar at unseeable speeds, before striking with air currents and mystic magics. It often aims to disable its opponents entirely.

  • Lucario. A canine-humanoid Fighting/Steel-type PokΓ©mon. It has the ability to sense the aura of all living things from over half a mile away. This includes sensing thoughts and emotions. It also uses this aura to attack, evade, and create energy waves.

  • Milotic. A beautiful serpentine Water-type PokΓ©mon. It has the ability to emit psychic waves that can nullify rage and fill people with calmness. This particular Milotic also has master over the control of water, as well as the ability to shoot beams of ice. Its training allows it to endure powerful attacks and regenerate.

  • Garchomp. A bipedal Dragon/Ground-type PokΓ©mon that's part-dragon, part-shark. It can fly at sonic speeds, detect prey from great distances, burrow through mountains, and cut through trees. Cynthia's Garchomp is capable of creating earthquakes and multiplying its power exponentially. In addition, it can Mega Evolve, becoming stronger than possibly imagined.

In addition, Cynthia can wear a Sygna Suit, a set of clothing designed to attune her to certain PokΓ©mon. Cynthia can call upon Giratina: deity of antimatter, lord of the Distortion World, fallen child of the creator of the universe. Godlike in power and murderous in capacity, Cynthia often reserves Giratina for times of need β€” or battles where she believes it will find a true, fulfilling challenge.Other PokΓ©mon include, but are not limited to: Gastrodon, Eelektross, Braviary, Glaceon, and Porygon-Z.

CREATIVE LICENSES

  • Cynthia is thirty years old. She is 6'0" (183 cm), bisexual, and single. Although she has had many significant others in the past, most of them weren't able to keep up with her busy schedule or otherwise maintain a long-distance relationship.

  • In this way, she's fairly susceptible to teasing, concerning her love life. She resents any notion that she's an old spinster, let alone old. Hitting the thirty-year mark is an especially touchy subject.

  • Cynthia can speak several languages fluently. The real-life equivalent would be English and Japanese being her most fluent languages, with some fluency in Chinese, Greek, Spanish, and French.

  • She has far more PokΓ©mon than is seen in canon. The PokΓ©mon she often uses are simply the most powerful available to her normally.

  • Similar to Lance, Cynthia has actively attacked people using her PokΓ©mon. Unlike Lance, Cynthia has purposefully killed people using her PokΓ©mon. Although only in self-defense, this is a source of shame for her.

  • Cynthia is able to keep up with her PokΓ©mon physically, at least for the purposes of battle and adventure. She's also incredibly durable, as are most human characters in the PokΓ©mon universe.

  • The Lucario in Super Smash Bros. Brawl specifically belongs to Cynthia. Lucario in other games in the Smash Bros. series (Wii U/3DS, Ultimate, etc.) are actually different Lucario and belong to different trainers.

  • As necessary, Cynthia has full permission to temporarily command Dialga and Palkia in order to combat especially apocalyptic threats.
